From Hollywood hero to trusted family babysitter. There is not another horse with this kind of seasoned resume and proven consistency. Barney has been in the same family since age 3. From the very beginning Barney has been an old soul….kind, gentle and a willingness that very few horses seem to possess. He became a trusted mount for the grandkids learning to lope. They would lope off in the arena and fly high above the saddle at times….Barney was always there to catch them! He moves well for a big horse and has some beautiful arena training too. In the winter Barney is a classic sleigh ride horse. He wears bells and glides through the snowy mountains effortlessly. So easy and fun to drive! He goes single, double even in a four up. Every year Barney was counted on to pull a wagon in the Tucson Rodeo Parade. A huge LOUD busy affair of three miles and 50,000+ people. If his teammate was stressed Barney was cool. Everyone relied on Barney’s coolness…and the other horses certainly did too. Barney’s “coolness” landed him special event jobs and even feature film work. His rock-solid personality earned him roles in cast positions and especially as a cast driving horse. You may have seen him on a western blazing across an open plain in a four up Stagecoach hitch, or maybe a calvary mount, a trappers or cowboy’s mount. Or even as a horse alone on a snowy mountain with a young girl struggling to save her own life…To this day he is still part of David Yarrow’s team creating his iconic photographic legacies. His versatility makes him a ”go to horse” in so many situations. Barney has lived life large and stayed humble throughout it. He love’s a pasture and always stays the same after any amount of time off. Completely sound in mind and body, Barney is ready for a special family or individual that will love him and in return he will give you his best every time.
