Stunning Buttermilk Buckskin AQHA/FQHR Gelding — Ranch, Trail, Cow, Family & All-Around Deluxe If you’re looking for one that turns heads everywhere he goes and has the training, mind, and versatility to back it up, this gorgeous buttermilk buckskin is the kind that is hard to find. Double registered AQHA and FQHR, he is stout made with a kind eye, great bone, and the kind of mane and tail that never seem to have a bad hair day. He is an own son of One Shiney Metallic, sired by the legendary Metallic Cat, and his pedigree shows in his athleticism, cow sense, trainability, and natural ability. He has been shown in ranch trail, ranch pleasure, and cow horse, and was the 2023 Breeders Classic Reserve Champion. With his size, build, and willing mind, he also has all the makings of a very nice rope horse and has already had a rope swung off him. This horse is broke, handy, and fun to ride. He has three smooth gaits, a nice slow jog, and will extend when asked. He has a nice turnaround, a big stop, is soft in the face and body, moves off leg pressure, picks up the lope with ease, knows his flying changes, and has been ridden bridleless and bareback. He will side pass over to a mounting block, fence, trailer, or whatever you need to get on. He knows cattle and enjoys the job. He will track a cow, has dabbled in ranch sorting, and shows a lot of willingness and ability. He will also pull barrels, logs, tires, and other objects from the saddle horn, and he is useful around the place — including ponying colts to help teach them to lead. Outside the arena, he is as solid and dependable as they come. He trail rides over, through, and under just about anything in his path. He drops his head and walks quietly, has been to town, ridden in traffic, and is unfazed by commotion. He has been desensitized to bull whips, tarps, balls, and all the usual “scary” things. He is also the kind the whole family can enjoy. Young girls six and under have ridden him one-handed, comfortably at all three gaits, out on trail rides, and around the barn. They can get him out of his stall, ground tie him, tack him up, and even take him along to the swing set. He has pulled kids in a wagon with another child riding him — the kind of patient, trustworthy personality everyone hopes to find. This gelding is not limited to western work either. He rides English, has been started over low jumps, and would make a fun fox hunting prospect as he is unbothered by chaos and happy to hop over small fences. A gun has also been shot off him, and with his athleticism and quick feet when asked, he could make a mounted shooting prospect as well. He lays down on command, loves attention, and can absolutely be a big pet — but when it’s time to work, he is ready. He has a wonderful ability to match his energy to the job at hand, whether that means packing kids quietly, going down the trail, working cattle, showing in the ranch classes, or stepping up for a more athletic rider. Beautiful, broke, versatile, kind, and uniquely colored — this is a special gelding with the looks, pedigree, training, and personality to be someone’s once-in-a-lifetime horse.
